Dr. Martin Maldonado is an Argentine scientist who graduated in Physical Education Sciences at the Universidad Nacional de Rio Cuarto, Argentina in 2002 and received a Master's degree in Exercise Physiology at the Universidad Federal de Santa Maria, Brazil in 2004. In 2010 he earned his doctorate in Medicine from Ehime University, Japan. Then, he conducted research in the field of neuropharmacology for several years in the same country. In 2013 Dr. Maldonado moved to China where he initially worked as a postdoctoral fellowship in the field of stem cells, at Shantou University, Guangdong, China. He investigated the potential of human Umbillical Mesenchymal Stem Cells (hUMSCs) stem cell’s therapy for diabetes type 2 treatment. Later on, Dr. Maldonado moved to the city of Chengdu where he continued stem cell research as a long-term associate researcher at an institute of Reproductive Medicine & Genetics. He established a stem cells facility and leaded a research team who evaluated how the differentiation potential of hUMSCs and paracrine signaling interaction contribute to improving the in vitro maturation of mouse cumulus-oocyte complexes (mCOCs). Moreover, his team produced several SCI publications in the field of stem cells and anti-aging. Thereafter, Dr. Maldonado worked as a Research Manager in the field of organoids research in the pharmaceutical industry. His research achievements are published in SCI journals like AGING, Stem Cells International, Cell Communication and Signalling, Neurochemistry International, and the International Journal of Nanomedicine, among others.
