Dr. Xinhui Wu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiology & Pathophysiology at the University of Manitoba and a Principal Investigator at the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba. Her research focuses on how environmental exposures, particularly wildfire smoke, influence lung development and epithelial repair. Dr. Wu employs advanced ex vivo and in vitro models, including 3D lung organoids, to investigate the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying lung injury and regeneration. She completed her PhD and postdoctoral training in Europe, at the University of Groningen and Aston University, where she specialized in regenerative pharmacology for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Through her interdisciplinary work combining epithelial biology, tissue engineering, and regenerative physiology, Dr. Wu aims to uncover molecular mechanisms that promote lung resilience and identify novel therapeutic strategies to prevent or treat chronic lung diseases.
